President’s Message

We're also working with the City to improve the flow of traffic
at the back entrance at Publix. For anyone who has used this
entrance, you know this is an accident waiting to happen.
Generally, the issue is drivers not properly yielding the right-
of-way or making a full stop as they leave the mall. At the
time of this writing, proposals have been presented to
Gumberg (mall owner) and Publix's corporate offices. The first
stage includes double yellow striping and raised pavement at
the turn into the mall. It also includes adding 18" and 24"
white stop bar striping. The second stage might include a
roundabout at the entranceway. Part of the issue is that the
delivery dock at Publix is inadequate to properly handle the
size and volume of the trucks making their deliveries.

I would also like to thank the Fort Lauderdale Police
Department for helping us get rid of some squatters...yes
squatters. There are a few abandoned homes in the
community, and in this particular situation, the homeowner
living next door made me aware that squatters had taken
up residence after the homeowner died and the property
was going through probate. Although this is a rare

occurrence, it's not the first time this has happened. Within
two weeks after I reported this matter to the police, the
squatters were gone and told they would be arrested if they
returned. BTW, as of December, we have a new police
captain assigned to District 1. Captain Dana Swisher will
be in charge of our neighborhood.

As we move forward into 2017 the BOD will continue to do
everything we can to improve our neighborhood.
Throughout the year I receive many emails and phone calls
from residents with various requests or concerns. While I
am more than happy to do what I can to help out, I would
like to request one thing from each of you reading this
article - JOIN the HOA. If you're interested in making
CRCCE a better and safer community, we need your
support. These projects do not fund themselves. We need
your SUPPORT!

Sincerely,
Peter Cooper
