CRCCE HOA President’s Message
When a community works together anything is possible.
bout a week before Christmas I spotted two dogs running down Bayview Drive.
A I tried three times to stop them so I could get them into my car and post their
photo on Next Door Neighbor. Unfortunately, as friendly as they were they just kept
running until they disappeared from view. When I got home I immediately posted a
message about the dogs on Next Door. Within a few minutes another resident
posted saying she knew who owned the dogs. A few minutes later another resident
posted that the dogs had been spotted and were being fed by some restaurant
employees. He was able to go home get two leashes and bring them to his house. I
called him with the other neighbor's phone number and shortly thereafter the two
dogs were returned to their rightful home. It gave me pause to think that when a
community works together anything is possible.
We all have busy lives and during the four years I've been President of our HOA
membership has been stagnant. Your Board of Directors has discussed a number of
Peter Cooper ideas on how to increase involvement by our residents. We reduced the membership

fee to 25 dollars to encourage more people to join. That didn't seem to make a

difference. We all want to take pride in our neighborhood and while some of our
goals have been accomplished without financial support we have limited avenues
for funding improvements. We've gotten a commitment from the City to resurface
Bayview Drive, new gateway monuments will be going up this Spring, speed signs
have been installed along Bayview Drive, code enforcement
has worked with us to clean up the old Christopher's
nightclub, we have a more visible police presence,
we're working with the city to improve the flow of traffic
into the mall at NE 33rd Street plus other projects.
However without your support we'll be limited as to what
we can do to enhance the neighborhood.
By the time this newsletter arrives
we may have a new mayor
elect or if not there will be a run
off election in March. Heather
Moraitis ran unopposed and
will be our new City
Commissioner. There are a
host of issues facing our
city and with a new
mayor and new city
commissioners the
direction of the
city is in play.
