CRCCE HOA President’s Message
Dear Neighbors,
The rainy season that arrived with a vengeance afforded me a free afternoon to
browse the history of our Homeowner’s Association which received its charter in the
name North Coral Ridge Homeowner’s Association on March 22, 1978. This initial,
smaller community did not include the area between Oakland Park Blvd and NE 37t
Street until August 1987.
The newly bounded Coral
Ridge Country Club Estates
continued to face many of the
same issues as its
predecessor. I was interested
to read about the concerns of
North Coral Ridge and Coral
Ridge Country Club Estates.
Some have been successfully
addressed while others
Peter Cooper remain with us even today.

coralridgeccehoa@gmail.com
Lauderdale News article
reported that the HOA
headed by Gloria Katz was
alarmed by the extremely
dangerous traffic on the heavily traveled Bayview Drive. Katz further commented,
“Parents are getting in their cars to drive their children two blocks because they are
afraid to let them walk along Bayview.” The attention brought to the problem by the
HOA prompted a county/city partnership to build sidewalks between NE 32nd and
NE 47th Streets for a cost of $35,000.
• Traffic through the neighborhood to the mall was cut back in 1987 the when the
entrances at NE 35th Street and NE 26th were closed. The remaining back entrance on
NE 32nd Street has become a traffic issue that we are currently working to improve.
• A recurring topic of discussion throughout the years involved closing NE 37th St
and NE 37th Dr to traffic from Federal Highway. Cut through traffic on these two
streets is still a topic of concern.
• Other familiar topics included adding a special taxing district to pay for additional
police protection, speed bumps, entrance monuments, and preservation of the
former American Golf course as green space and development of the mall.
My rainy afternoon spent browsing through archives was enlightening. The déjà vu
quality of today’s HOA meetings pointed out the truth in the cliché that “the more
things change, the more they stay the same.” But more importantly, I reflected on the
fact that, then as now, the strength of the community and improvements to and for
the community depend on a robust Homeowner’s Association.
I invite you to read first hand stories (below) of our history from some of our
long-time residents. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
Peter Cooper
