President’s Message
The last three months have gone by fast, and we have worked
closely as a Board and gotten much accomplished.
I
feel that our neighborhood is as vibrant and alive as ever and we see more
people moving in and setting roots here. The more connection we have with our
neighbors, the stronger we are as a neighborhood. I love the daily interactions
with neighbors walking or biking by the house or when I am out with my dog.
As our property values go up, so are the expectations of the homeowners investing
in The Landings. Our residents take pride in their properties and keeping up with
maintenance of home and landscaping.
Unfortunately, there are a few homeowners not carrying their weight for the
Helena Cooper betterment of the whole.

yards for years without being driven, boats and trailers left in the front yards, to

name a few. Another concern is the short-term vacation rentals.
VICE PRESIDENT
Diane Dodich Based on the City’s list of District 1 registered vacation rentals, I created a list for
dionline94@aol.com just the Landings. Right now, there are nine properties registered. I have shared
this list with the Board as well as with the Block Captains to verify its accuracy and
TREASURER
Kathleen Cool completeness.
kacool1@aol.com This past month, I have received a few complaints of problem party homes. The
SCECRETARY Board has taken note and forwarded the concerns to Commissioner Moraitis’s
Dana Mullaney Office and to Code Compliance.

Two concerned residents brought up the issue of the shallow waters under the
construction bridge. A family of manatees were trying to get out but were unable
BOARD MEMBERS to. I referred this issue to Commissioner Moraitis’s office, who got me in touch with
Scott Cooper Public Works. I was told the bridge is getting replaced in the fall of 2023 and at
scott@coopgroupllc.com that point the dredging will take place as well.
Ronnie Dennis Public Works also told me to submit pictures of broken utility boxes, mended with

tape, and loose wires dangling in various places in the neighborhood as I brought
Don Herzog them to their attention.

They will also try to assist with options as far as marking docks and curbs with
Michael Maschmeyer house numbers. The need for house numbers on the dock sides was brought to our

attention by officer Laurie Arthur, FLPD. It would make it so much easier for the
Paul Renneisen police to respond while patrolling by boat.

The 4/24/22 Landings Neighborhood of the Month event at the Art Museum was
Sussy Rosen
sussyta14@hotmail.com a success and we hope to schedule more such opportunities to meet and mingle in
a cultural setting. Some photos from the event follow on page 6 of this issue.

shahina50@yahoo.com There will be a special in-person Galleria Project Meeting on June 6th at 5pm at the
former Neiman Marcus store. An e-mail blast was sent to all our members about this.
Lastly, we are in the process of adding one more LPR camera for reading incoming
traffic. These cameras will provide the FLPD with even better data in their crime
fighting and crime prevention efforts. As you might have read in previous
correspondence, the current cameras enabled the police to apprehend a burglar in
Bay Colony. The benefit of our cameras goes beyond just The Landings residents.
So, in the future we hope to count on both Bay Colony and Lake Estates in the
fund-raising efforts needed to maintain these in the upcoming years.
