Planning Matters
Traffic Calming Update
New Speed Cushions and more
Radar signs coming to CRCCE
n the last issue of the newsletter, we reported that the City had refused to add any
stop signs on internal streets—that means all streets except Bayview Drive. However,
I they did come up with a list of other traffic calming measures for the neighborhood’s
consideration, including traffic cushions, radar signs, and striping. We publicized this in
an article that ran in the last issue of the newsletter. The board discussed the City’s
proposals and I also received a fair number of email comments from CRCCE residents.
Based on these resident comments, the Board asked to the City to add the speed
cushions wherever possible. See the accompanying map on page 6 which shows the
location of existing speed bumps and new speed cushions throughout the neighborhood.
Installation of the new speed cushions, exact locations TBD, is expected be complete by
the end of the year. The City has placed an order for 40 speed cushions, which at

$2500 per cushion will deplete entirely our $100,000 allocation of funds at the City
Vice President
which came along with the Mobility Master Plan and a donation from Stiles and the
Country Club related to the Enclave project.
Board of Directors We received input from residents that the radar signs would be more effective on
Bayview Drive than on internal streets. The City has agreed to install two more radar

$6500 each.

signs as part of its regular maintenance program, at no additional cost to us (we told
Judy High them that should come out of our property tax bill) and the City agreed.

The HOA Board believes these internal traffic calming measures, though not the stop
Brian O'Connell signs we wanted, will, together with the planned traffic calming measures on Bayview

Drive (roundabouts at NE 37 Drive and NE 47 St, and raised intersection at NE 40th
Jason Ulbrich Street) reduce cut-through traffic speeding in the neighborhood.
